Returning to the Body

Sound healing · Crystal bowls & voice

Lie down and let the sound hold you.

Sound healing uses sound frequencies to support physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. There's nothing you need to do. Simply lie down, breathe, and receive.

What is a sound bath?

A sound bath is a meditative, immersive experience. You lie comfortably on a mat while the room fills with sustained, resonant tones. Unlike a concert, you don't need to listen actively or follow anything. Just as water washes over the body, sound washes through it.

Crystal bowls and my voice

I work with crystal singing bowls and my own voice. Crystal bowls are made from high-purity quartz. When struck, or when the mallet is drawn slowly around the rim, the walls of the bowl vibrate and release a clear, pure tone that lingers long after the mallet leaves it.

That lingering is called resonance, and it's the heart of a session. Layered with my voice, the tones blend into a soft, enveloping field of sound. It's a unique experience, and no two sessions sound the same. Why I use my voice →

How it works

Sound is vibration. It travels through the air to your ears, and through the floor and your mat into your body. As the tones slow and stretch out, many people find their breathing slows, their muscles soften and their nervous system shifts out of "busy" mode and into rest.

The mind tends to follow. Everyday thinking quietens, and you may drift into a calm, dreamlike state somewhere between awake and asleep. Falling asleep is completely okay too.

InteractiveMove the mallet into the bowl to strike it

Hover the mallet over the bowl and tap its side to strike it.

During a session

What you might notice

  • A deep sense of rest and stillness
  • A quieter, more spacious mind
  • Warmth, tingling or gentle vibration in the body
  • Emotions softening and moving through, sometimes as tears or a long sigh
  • Better sleep in the nights that follow

There's no wrong way to receive a sound bath. Some people notice mostly physical sensations; others have vivid emotional or visual experiences. All of it is welcome.

The shape of a session

Arrive, soften, rest, return

  • ArriveSettle onto your mat with blankets and pillows. We take a few slow breaths, and you can set a quiet intention.
  • SoftenLow, grounding tones help you drop out of your thinking mind and into your body.
  • RestThe heart of the session: layered bowls, my voice, and spacious silences where integration happens.
  • ReturnThe sound gently fades. You come back slowly, with time to sit, sip some water and land.
